The Foundation of the Digital Identity
A Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is a system that allows digital certificates to be issued, distributed, and verified. PKI is based on asymmetric cryptography, where a user has a pair of cryptographic keys – a public key and a private key. Asymmetric cryptography allows the use to encrypt and sign data or messages.
A certificate authority is able to verify a certificate, i.e. the authenticity and the valid applications of public keys (and key pairs).
PKI is based on the following components:
- Certificate Authority, CA
- Registration Authority, RA
- Directory Service
- Certificate Validation Service
- and the relevant documentation (Certificate Policy, CP and Certificate Practice Statement, CPS)
PKI can be used by a number of applications for various functions. It provides comprehensive and powerful security services for internal and external data exchange.
Ergonomics’ specialists help with the correct design, implementation, integration and the operation of a company own PKI. If you are looking to use the services of an existing or public PKI, Ergonomics will guide you through the process.
We support you in all the critical areas of this well established technology and make sure that you can meet your business requirements with your new PKI.
