Reliable processing of railway reservations

The UIC gateway processes reservation inquiries from various transportation companies and directs these inquiries to the appropriate railway. Accounting data and statistical analyses are also processed and presented.

The gateway of the Rhätische Bahn is jointly used by the Montreux Oberland Bahn as well as the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn. Tourists and international visitors represent a major portion of the riders on these three railways. The famous Glacier Express, the scenic route between St. Moritz and Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn, attracts more that 1.6 million travelers each year. The new UIC gateway plays a critical role, since reservations are required on these trains.

Ergonomics implements the complete UIC gateway software solution and operates the gateway from the end of 2016 on a highly available, redundant IT infrastructure.

Combination to reduce complexity for users across digital, physical, mobile and cloud domains - anytime, anywhere in an increasingly connected world

Datacard Group, the industry’s best-selling brand of secure identification and card personalization solutions, has entered into an agreement to acquire Entrust, Inc., a leader in securing digital identities and information and a Thoma Bravo LLC portfolio company. The acquisition builds on the strengths of each company to enable its customers and partners to deliver better services in highly connected environments. The acquisition is expected to close on December 31, 2013, subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.

"Today, we are pleased to announce the proposed combination of two market pioneers with one ambitious goal – helping our customers and partners reduce complexity while strengthening trust," said Todd Wilkinson, president and CEO of Datacard Group. "Connectivity is redefining physical and digital boundaries. For our customers and partners, this means opportunity, but also significant complexity. For years the paths of our companies have intertwined as we served customers - often the same financial and government customers - from different points within the technology spectrum. Those paths now converge to bring powerful new innovations in secure identity to enable trust while reducing complexity in deployment, management, and use."

The acquisition will reinforce the company’s commitment and relationships with customers and partners by:

  • Providing a robust platform for integrated offerings designed to serve the payments and identity ecosystems
  • Reinforcing the strategy of providing flexible solutions that enable customers to choose deployment and management models
  • Leveraging complementary competencies to serve market applications including: ecommerce and financial transactions, secure communications (web, social, messaging), critical infrastructure, access control, and citizen identification and services
  • Utilizing Datacard Group’s global presence and resources along with Entrust’s best-in-class services to bring localized support closer to partners and customers

Mobile Security with Feitian Smart Card Readers and SecurePIM from virtual solution.

Employees always find their way to use business data with their own mobile devices, e.g. with personal e-mail accounts or online services such as Dropbox. In most situations, the employees are not even aware of the risks they are taking. SecurePIM offers a manageable solution that allows controlled access to company data on mobile devices.

SecurePIM is a separate app on the mobile device. This app manages and stores all business data in an encrypted area. Business data is clearly separated from personal data.

Comprehensive PKI security can be achieved by combining SecurePIM with the smart card readers from Feitian, which are available for iPhone/iPad as well as in a Bluetooth version.

Ergonomics Europe presented this solution at the it-sa trade show in Nürnberg.

ATOS PKI cards can now be issued and managed much easier.

PrivacyPUK, the pre-personalization solution for PKI cards, supports also cards of the manufacturer ATOS. In one step, the cards are initialized, PUKs and PIN are set. Blocked cards can be unblocked with a PUK or a challenege/response code.

PrivacyPUK is available for SafeNet cards since 2006. With release 3, ATOS cards with CardOS 4.3b and 4.4. are supported as well.

PrivacyPUK initialises and personalises Identity Tokens in one step. The initialisation deletes any existing user data on the Identity Token. The pre-personalisation sets PIN, PUKs and security parameters for the token. A PIN mailer is generated after the personalisation process.

PrivacyPUK stores the PUK values in a database. If a token is blocked, the help desk or the adminis-trator can access the database to retrieve the next valid PUK for this token. With the new features available from version 3.0 also ATOS smartcard products are supported. Among other things it is pos-sible to unblock smart cards using a challenge new response feature.

Sophisticated access and key management features enable a security officer to securely personalise Identity Tokens on one hand, and on the other hand to protect critical information from being accessed by non-authorised personnel.

More information about PrivacyPUK.
